I will be traveling by airplane with my 2 Siamese cats from Canada to St. Lucia. The cats are 4.5 years old, and the male in particular does not travel well at all and gets very upset. Since the journey to St. Lucia will involve about 8-10 hours of traveling, I am wondering if there is any type of sedative I can give the cats to keep them calm for the duration of the trip?
I am flying my 10-month old cat for the first time from Cambodia to Malaysia via Malaysian Airlines. I know that it's a short flight (less than 2 hours), but I would like to make the journey as comfortable as possible since my cat has been kept indoor all the time.
Do you know whether it is possible or perhaps a common practice for the airline to allow me to keep her until boarding time, instead of checking her in with my luggages? I've noticed that they do that for baby strollers when they are taken away just right before boarding.
Also, would the airline pressurize the cargo section's air automatically or I would need to inform the airline in advance? I've heard that the air should be pressurized especially for cats which have short nasal passage.
Please advice and thanks very much.
